marquee shelter? 🌏
marquee shelter is on-chain conceptual NFT art with a lifetime. It is to bury the dying web2 technology in the web3 blockchain as living things. Its artwork is an HTML animation with deprecated marquee tags. The marquee tag is an expression that was popular on good old websites.It is an expression to draw attention by scrolling text. This tag has been deprecated from the HTML specification. By using the technique that has stopped development, the artwork may change (stop) due to different factors such as browser version upgrade. As a matter of fact, it does not work well in Safari already. Art with a lifetime helps us embrace changes.
Rescue <marquee />🐶👐
Each day, only a maximum of three marquees will be available from the shelter. At around 0:00, the lineup gets updated, and new marquees will be available to mint. When you mint a marquee from the shelter, it gets the'rescue day' property. Each marquee has a different visual appearance, colour, and movement speed. Find your favourite marquee.
Resurrection 👼
Are you worried that marquees stop working? The marquee NFT has a resurrection function. When the owner executes the function, the animation of their marquee changes to a new one utilising modern web technique (CSS). Unlike the marquee tag, this technique has not been deprecated. After being resurrected, your marquee will have a halo. Be careful, though. Resurrection cannot be undone. You can only do it once. Also, we don't think every owner should resurrect their marquee. Rather, we want you to be with your marquee until the end of their life.
On chain artworks 🔗
All the marquee's artworks are generated by on-chain codes. The image property used for thumbnails on OpenSea is written in SVG because the OpenSea thumbnails can't display HTML. So the marquee NFT reproduces the same artwork in three ways: HTML with the marquee tag, HTML with CSS, and SVG (without animations). Anyone can reproduce from the contract.
Additional note - 2022/05/23
marquee shelter has been unlisted from opensea for 3 days starting May 18, 2022. It is now re-listed. I have communicated with support multiple times, and they are unsure of the cause. marquee shelter itself is based on the concept of technological change and problems, but this case made me realize that NFT is not mature yet either. I was terrified, but since no one could prove that there was no problem, I will continue to observe. Even if it is hidden from opensea, it is still viewable from other markets, and the tokens will not disappear. I hope that all of you who support me will understand the above situation and continue to help me. Thank you.

- What about resurrection?
- You can execute resurrection by entering the token ID of your marquee in the resurrection write function of the contract. Note that once it’s executed, you cannot revert to the previous state again. You can also run it on Etherscan.
1. Open #writeContract of the Contract page on Etherscan.
2. Connect to web3 with a wallet.
3. Enter your marquee number in “5. resurrection” and execute ”Write”.
- Can I let my marquee run?
- Yes, the contract has some useful functions like the Loot project. You can get the ASCII art from getDogString, walking speeds from getDogSpeed, and colours from getPallete. Try letting your marquee run in a big field. Etherscan
- What happens to marquees that are not rescued from the shelter?
- Whether marquee is minted or not, the shelter lineup changes every day. You can meet the same marquee a year later.
- Do you have a roadmap and utilities?
- Instead of the so-called ‘roadmap,’ artists will continue coming up with new projects and news. We believe that artists' continuity can satisfy our early holders.
- Will the artwork be safe forever if it is resurrected?
- No, there is no guarantee of eternity. Like many other NFTs, this NFT relies on Ethereum and various web technologies. We are using the current standard techniques, but no one can predict the future. The sense of transition is part of the <marquee /> shelter project.
